The Hornets dominated Northridge for their second shutout of the year winning 56-0. The Hornets were attacking the ball all night, hardly leaving any room for Northridge to breathe. The defense sacked quarterback Brandon Hayes 6 times and only allowed a combined total of 15 yards. The defense was led by Sophomore Ben Klaiber who had 8 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 6 tackles for a loss. Although Northridge has struggled throughout the season, the Hornets completely dominated on both sides of the ball.
It was a big night for Senior Devin King who passed the 3,000-yard mark for his career at Monroe. King was able to rush for 155 yards before he was pulled in the 3rd quarter. King has been able to make big plays for the Hornets all season long showing off his tremendous leadership abilities. He has paved the way for Sophomores Chris Wilson and Max Agee to take over for next year’s season. Wilson has received a lot of playing time this year and has shown that he is more than capable of filling in for King. Wilson with only 8 carries was able to pick up 80 yards and 1 touchdown.
With a huge lead and no sign of anything happening for Northridge, Coach Stubbs decided to put in all the JV guys for the remainder of the 3rd and 4th quarter. It was a great opportunity to give the younger guys a taste of what it will be like for them next year. The Hornets have one more game against the Bellbrook Eagles this Friday Night at 7:30 P.M. at Fighting Monroe Stadium. So be sure to come out and cheer on the Hornets and the Seniors as they play their last game in a Hornet football uniform.
