Hornets Fall to 4-4 With Loss to Oakwood
Story by: Courtenay Teitelbaum
The night didn’t start off well for the hornets as they gave up a fumble on the very first play of the game that gave the lumberjacks the ball on the Hornets 38 yard line. From there things didn’t seem to get any better. The defense was having a lot of trouble containing Oakwood’s quarterback, as he was able to tally up 213 yards rushing and 81 yards passing. The Hornets weren’t going to go down without a fight. Sr. quarterback David Routson was able to lead his team to rallying up three scores in the fourth quarter but only to come up short a victory. The Hornets lost 34-51.
The Hornets have been fighting hard all season and they now sit with a record of 4-4. With playoff hopes seemingly out of sight, these last two games for the Hornets will be all about pride. The Hornets have showed a tremendous capability that they can put points on the board, but the defense is where the problem seems to lay. The Hornets have a great opportunity to take home victories with their last two games being at home. Hornet Fans, be sure to come out and support the Hornets as they take on Northridge Friday at 7:30 P.M. at Fighting Hornet Stadium.
